USAV "BB" National Champions
Big Bang went to Atlanta, GA and won the USAV "BB" National tournament. Finishing with an overall record of 11-1 in matches and 22-7 in games.

The team was without Kevin Milton, Bach Du and John Webb who could not make the trip. They were able to add Geoffrey Koger as a Libero/Setter from their fellow BCV Club team S2K.

After starting the tournament with a 0-2 loss to the Texas Rangers and losing the first game of the next match, the team was able to get back into form. Rattling off 11 straight match wins including beating the Texas Rangers in the Semi-Finals of the Gold Division Winners Bracket.

Stu Katz was named tournament MVP while Matt Hankey and Brandon Mallon were also named to the all-tournament team.

Chesapeake "A" Champions
Big Bang won another regional championship it's 4th in 5 years. This time they did it at the "A" level by going 7-2 in pool play and then defeating Tiger Balm A 2-1 in the finals. Making the all-tournament team where OH Stu Katz and OH Matt Hankey who was also named MVP.
Next Big Bang will play at the National Tournament in Atlanta starting on Saturday, May 24th.

Carver Vo. Tech Tournament A/BB
Big Bang was finally able to play a tournament at near full strength. The result was a 9-3 record and a tournament win. The first of the year for the team. Big Bang will next play at the VB House in an AA/A tournament on April 5th.


February 10th, 2008
Leesburg, VA Tournament A/BB
With only 6 players Big Bang was able to come out of pool play in 1st place with an 8-1 record. They made it through the semi-finals 2-0 and then faced Tiger Balm A in the finals. Tiger Balm proved to be a very strong hitting team with excellent defense. After splitting the first 2 games the teams played a 3rd game to 15 to decide the tournament champ. Tiger Balm outlasted Big Bang winning a close deciding game.

Big Bang Signing
Jerrold Smith, formerly of Red Card has signed to play with BCV's Big Bang. Jerrold formerly played with Red Card as an OH. Jerrold will add a lot of quickness as a hitter and covers a lot of court defensivly. He will play his first tournament tomorrow in Leesburg, VA.

February 2nd, 2008
University of MD, A/AA
Big Bang had a rough second tournament finishing 2-6. John Webb (MH) was out with a shoulder injury while Bach Du (S/L) also missed the tournament. The team did split 1-1 with AA teams, Benchwarmers and Freaks of the Industry. S2K was also on this competative net and took 2 games from Big Bang to avenge their loss in the VB House championships.

Big Bang wins VB House Championship
Big Bang won yet another VB House championship. After taking out Guererro's in the semi-finals Big Bang had a tough match against fellow club team S2K. Congratulations to S2K on a fantastic season.

Bill Marsh Returns
Bill Marsh has re-joined Big Bang after sitting out last season. Bill was an original member of Big Bang and the 2005 "BB" Regional Tournament MVP. After missing the 2006 National Tournament and all of last season Bill was talked into returning for this season and will begin play on January 8th at the teams next VB House match.

Big Bang Signs 3
Matt Hankey a 6'7" OH and his college teammate Stu Katz a 6'4" OH both from Ohio State have joined Big Bang. We have also added John Webb a 6'5" MH formerly of Team Chop who competed with Big Bang at the US National tournament in Austin, Texas.

Players Lost
Big Bang has lost several key members of their 2006-2007 squad. Scott Masters has decided to join BCV's Amnesia. Alex Nance has decided to concentrate on coaching his daughters. Jeff Hess is taking the year off to rehab his injured knee. Chiah Evans has decided to look for another team.

VB House Championship
Big Bang won yet another VB House Championship. After finishing the season 20-1 they swept through the play-offs winning 2-0 and 2-0. They will be taking the summer off and start next season this fall.

US Natioanls in Austin, Texas
Big Bang finished in a tie for 13th place at the US Open Nationals Tournament in Austin, Texas. We would like to thank all the fans that supported us including the other BCV Teams that participated at the tournament. It was a great effort by all 3 teams and a great time! Overall the teams match record was 5-4. One of the loses was to Nemises of St. Louis, MO who ended up as the tournament champions. The teams victories included; (Zero Gravity of Syracuse, NY), (U-Volley of Windsor, PA), (Combusto of Kenosha, WI), (Court Jesters-Gold of Kenner, LA), and (Wally's of Long Branch, NJ).

Volleyball House League
Big Bang finished the league with a 20-1 record. Their only loss coming at the end of their season. On the last game of a triple header they dropped their first game of the season. Yesterday they started the play-off run with a 2-0 victory over Really. Next week is a bye week for the team as they will be competing at the National Tournament in Austin, Texas. June 5th they will be back on the court at the VB House to take on Guerrero in the semi-finals.

Regional Tournament Champions!
For the second time in four years Big Bang has captured the Chesapeake Region "BB" championship. Brandon Mallon was honored as the tournament MVP, the second one for Big Bang (Bill Marsh, 2005). Also receiving significant All-Tournament consideration this year were AJ Mengel (MH/OH) and Bach Du (S). That is a clean sweep of the region as they captured the regular season title for the 3rd straight year as well. Next for Big Bang is a trip to Austin, TX for the national tournament. The team has announced the signing of John Webb, MH/Team Chop for the National tournament and is currently searching for a setter to replace Bach Du who is unable to make the trip.

Regional Regular Season Champs!
For the 3rd season in a row, Big Bang has captured the regular season championship in the Chesapeake Region "BB" division. Big Bang also finished 4th in the "A" division while only playing in 3 "A" tournaments. For the 3rd year Big Bang did not miss a play-off in any tournament they played, at any level. Overall they have only missed the play-offs twice in 4 years! This weekend they will be competing in the regional championship tournament.
